I really enjoyed watching Kurt Vonnegut’s take on “The Shape of Stories.” What I agreed strongly with his theory was the accuracy in the expression of his statements, “People love that stuff” and “We all know what happens!” In terms of graph, while the initial point of the curve may be different depending on the story, the final point of the curve is always the same: they all approach positive infinity! From this, we can infer that people always want to end on a positive note no matter how bad or good the circumstances were in the beginning, middle, and end. On a side note, there was a comedy show I watched where panels drew a graph of their life and while many had ups and downs in the middle, toward the end, all of them approached positive infinity and someone actually pointed out, “we all should die happily, right?”
