After listening to the the story of “Moon Graffiti” on audio only, I now realize the importance of sound effects and their roles. It was as if each different effects were a scene in itself, and everytime there was a change, I imagined a switch from one scene to another. The clear sounds provided the relevancy of being in a situation where talking is natural, and the buzzing sounds drew images of an environment where it was not only unnatural to talk, but also where characters were not at ease. In the words, I was able to imagine that characters with clear voices were sitting down as oppose to those with buzzing sounds being busy doing something else. In that sense, sound effects do create an atmosphere as well as the mood. Moreover, it also tells the stories of the characters by building audience’s tension, anticipation, and emotion.
